They call him "Squish: Captain Disaster" but he doesn't exactly always live up to this title, in a good way. It's a fun and easy read that will keep you constantly turning the page and even leave you wanting more. This is a book I can even relate to from when I was a young kid, on my first team in middle school. Some of the teaching exercises can be used both for writing exercises or in physical education classes. It would be good to teach this book in a way to teach a lesson to youth about the importance of team work. Being on a team can be challenging especially with the pressure from certain peers but it is important to realize that it isn't always about winning-or is it? These amoebas show a lot about what being on a team is all about and covers both the negatives and positives behind it all. A great writing exercise would be for each student to give their own definition of what a team is to them, what is the important things when on a team, and how they may view winning or losing. I think this book would be good to help those in middle school or of a younger age because it seems like something that they would be able to easily relate to. I think for a teaching exercise this book can help to show what may be important things about being on a team or in a team environment.
